Perfect to toss in a backpack, for a hike or a school day mini-meal, homemade snack bars pack a lot of convenience and wholesome nutrition into one small bundle. Making your own allows you to control the sugar and tailor the flavors to you liking. There is plenty of room for interpretation, but fiber is the name of the game when it comes to homemade snack bars. Oats and dried fruits often play the starring roles. Fiber is crucial for a happy digestive system, it feeds beneficial bacteria in the gut and its bulk makes us feel satisfied longer, staving off hunger.
